This branding project is based around a theoretical cafe, Black Cat Bakery, that serves autumnal baked goods year-round to the Philadelphia area. During this project, I wanted to embrace the changing seasons and nostalgia for the colder months with a brand that focuses on the warmth and comfort that fall brings. What better way to welcome fall than with fresh, fall-inspired baked goods!
the brand
The goal of the brand’s identity is to feel warm, whimsical, and festive. The consumer’s initial impression of Black Cat Bakery is through the logo, so I chose to design a simple type-based logo alongside an accompanying icon of a cat in a cupcake.
Color was a main driving factor for these designs because it serves to unify the entire project. The niche for these products is that they’re autumnal, with each pouch color representing fall leaves. It is most apparent when they are displayed together on a shelf.
